What is this?
Late at night in a newsroom in downtown Tokyo, David Cady used to regale co-workers with reviews of the latest canned coffees. His sensitive palate and even more sensitive self image combined to forge reviews that were both highly accurate and highly self-referential. Navel-gazing, some might say. But we beg to differ.
Canned coffee is to our Japan what absinthe is to Hemingway's Spain. We cannot imagine a Japan without vending machines full of both hot and cold coffee cans.
