Kathy Fridstein photographs three forgotten forts on Washington state's Olympic Peninsula in this stunning and evocative work. Once known as the Triangle of Fire, these cannon-bearing forts have been overtaken by nature. Fridstein's photos evoke the ghosts of history and the relentless march of time.
Fridstein's photographs inspired award-winning poet Kelli Russell Agodon to write 15 poems that are included in this collection. Some of the ekphrastic poems are printed on vellum. 
Historian David Hansen contributes an essay to provide context for the forts. Quotes from soldiers stationed there are placed throughout the book.
