Press Release: Canned Coffee
Canned Coffee Goes Global
October 11th, 2005, Seattle, WA / Tokyo, Japan
Hi. I'm David. Bruce asked me to write a press release for our new site, cannedcoffee.com. I've never written one before, so naturally I'm a little terrified. In fact, I'm freaking out. They're going to hate it. This is more than a hunch. But because we're all friends, they will have to dance around the subject, masking their displeasure and, yes, anger. Or maybe Bruce will lash out at me and accuse me of being precious again. It's gotten so that I can hardly write anymore.
But rather than succumb to my very real fears of inadequacy, I should sober up, put some clothes on and tell you about this site, which is basically a shrine to my ability to create astonishing verbal juxtapositions. It, the site, can also be interpreted as a paean to coffee, especially the canned variety sold in Japan. Here you will find reviews of canned coffee, coffee prose, fibs related tangentially to coffee, really scary posters, an e-book that will probably end up in a museum in New York or Barcelona, and art.
For Pete's sake, I don't know how to describe what we've done. Craig could do a better job, but he's too busy designing the site and riding his bike around Tokyo wearing that samurai ponytail of his. Let's just say that it's artsy and yet also has a commercial bent, as we're hawking some of our stuff on it, too.
I think this project may make us famous, but it could make you famous as well, because we are inviting your participation. That's right, we want you to write for us. There is a can of coffee in it for you if you do. I will personally mail it to you. You'll see. This is going to be good.
