Kozyndan
Keeping it unreal
I happened upon kozyndan sometime in late 2002/early 2003. There were a few things about their work that immediately struck me as unique. First of all, they were mainly drawing panoramics. Second, they brought a distinctly Asian flavor into a lot of their work, evident in their collaborations with magazines like Giant Robot. And finally, aside from their work being very skilled, I found it to be fused with a very confident -- self-concious to the point of being unself-concious -- sense of innocence. Right away, putting my money where my mouth now is, I threw down my credit card for one of their first Tokyo street panoramics. It's one of the few posters that survived my move last year from Philadelphia to Tokyo.
Thankfully, when we approached them with the idea of contributing to Kuhaku back in August 2003, they readily jumped aboard.
