Tis the season for political pundits to spout. Remember those guys in college, a little too beefy and sure of themselves, who loved to talk politics but were so mainstream conservative and loud that it was pointless to "debate" them? Well they grew up to be political bloggers and commentators, it seems, and during convention season they emerge like the zombies in Night of the Living Dead. They say that if Gustav hits New Orleans, it would be a disaster for Republicans, so ... while they sure hope the good people of the Gulf Coast don't have to endure any more suffering, blah, blah, blah, platitude, platitude, platitude, they kinda sorta hope Gustav does hit New Orleans. Ray in New Orleans responds to Will Bunch and a blogger at the Daily Kos who have forwarded this twisted argument. Here's Ray:

Bunch, I hope for your sake it doesn't come to pass, but it sure will be great if your entire family dies of brain cancer so that they can serve the greater good by being poster children for a cure. And I hope you live a long life afterward to enjoy all the glorious 'realpolitik' that it creates.

Anonymous Kossack: I don't even know what to say man. I just wish you would come down here and say that to my face. Just don't get in the way while I'm busy trying to choose which single carload of my family's personal belongings we want to keep.

About this blog

After Katrina and its horrible aftermath, Chin Music Press felt compelled to shine its wobbly flashlight on New Orleans. This effort resulted in our second book, Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans? Along the way, we met a community of passionate, eloquent writers who care deeply about what happens to the Big Easy. This blog became a natural extension of the book. It's our way of adding voices to the unfolding story of New Orleans.
