Voices of New Orleans

“Nearly three years after the levees broke, it's not the governments of Louisiana and the United States but the citizens, the volunteers still pouring in by the thousands every season, and a host of pathbreaking nonprofits that are re-creating New Orleans and, in the process, striving to make it a model 21st-century American city." — Outside magazine

About the easiest thing a politician can do these days is bash the President, especially if your subject is his pitiful response to Katrina. But in the age of the internet, it would be wise not to say you would have responded faster if you were president as there are a zillion sites ready and waiting to post the pictures of what you were actually doing when the Gulf Coast got beat to hell and back.

I hope that birthday cake was damn good, Senator.

In other news McCain does not agree that Katrina was punishment for a Gay Pride parade. Glad he got to the bottom of that one.

About this blog

After Katrina and its horrible aftermath, Chin Music Press felt compelled to shine its wobbly flashlight on New Orleans. This effort resulted in our second book, Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans? Along the way, we met a community of passionate, eloquent writers who care deeply about what happens to the Big Easy. This blog became a natural extension of the book. It's our way of adding voices to the unfolding story of New Orleans.
