Keene's fabulous memoirs
Japan Infusion | Life in Japan | Life in the US | The lit world
I just posted a short review of Donald Keene's memoirs on Japan Infusion. The book, Chronicles of My Life: An American in the Heart of Japan (Columbia University Press, 2008), is a wonderfully understated look at the enviable life of a master translator. If you're interested in Japan, Japanese literature, the craft of translation or if you just enjoy reading quiet books about memorable lives, read this book.
