Congrats to our very own Ironwoman!

Goodbye Madame Butterfly

Sumie Kawakami took a break this week from putting the finishing touches on our upcoming book, Goodbye Madame Butterfly, to take a little trip to Arizona and finish an Ironman competition in 14 hours, 3 minutes and 18 seconds.

The mind boggles. She swam 2.4 miles, cycled 112 miles, then ran a full marathon (26.2 miles) in 14 hours. And this was after long hours finishing the manuscript for Butterfly. Sumie, congratulations!

Hi Bruce and Craig:

I was just running some test searches on Dogpile.com which claims to be the most comprehensive search tool. It very quickly brought up your comment about Sumie's results in Arizona - which in turn led me to the other posting with the photo from Frankfurt and the news that the Butterfly Book will be in stores some time late summer or fall. Great.

She is back to normal - ie. working her butt off again at NHK and bike commuting most days to get ready for the next one. Cheers.

Hi Peter,

Good to hear from you and to get an update on Sumie. We're deep into the editing and translating, and I think we will emerge fairly soon with an excellent book.
